Fylde Hawks, following their last minute defeat to a strong Sedgley Park side last Saturday, will attempt to get back to winning ways at Chester 2s. With various players being drawn into the 1st team squad, there are a number of changes this week. The squad is:
15 Matty Kaye; 14 Sam Fisher, 13 John Taylor, 12 James Forest Bailey, 11 Jake Foster; 10 Josh Melvin, 9 Richard Whiteside; 1 Leyton Taylor, 2 Luke Woodward, 3 Richard Frith, 4 Nick Ashcroft (C), 5 Karl Capstick, 6 Cameron Macdonald, 7 Toby Harrison, 8 Adam Joyner.
16 Richard Appleyard, 17 TBC, 18 Dan Orwin.
This will be the first of two meetings between the teams on successive Saturdays. On 18th May, the Hawks & Chester compete in the semi-final of the BEST Cup at the Woodlands. The teams have met twice already this season. In the first Premiership game at Chester, it was a 29-all draw. The return at the Woodlands was a clear 34-12 win for the Hawks.
Fylde Saracens, scrapping to keep out of the four relegation places in Division One, welcome Kirkby Lonsdale 2s to the Woodlands (ko 3pm) in an important fixture. Both teams were promoted to this division last season. KL sit in 8th place in the league, the Sarries in 10th. In a squad affected badly by injured and unavailable players, they are grateful for a handful of UCLan players helping out.
The third home game at the Woodlands sees Division 5 (North) leaders Fylde Vandals taking on local friends and rivals Garstang 2s (ko 2pm) who are in 5th place. The Vandals have just five league games, including this one, between them and very hard won promotion so they need to keep up the pressure on 2nd & 3rd placed Leyland Warriors and Orrell 2s. They also face a semi-final of the Plate a week on Saturday when Burnley 3s are their opponents.
