On Monday the Arnold School U13s played out a very tough Lancashire Cup quarter-final away from home in Widnes against Wade Deacon HS. Always tough opponents, they gave our U13s a very tough match. However, the Arnold boys enjoyed much of the early possession and pressure and this led to three tries being scored.
Ellis Whorlton-Jones scored the first and then a lovely pass and good angle by Ben Pearson saw the hooker fly over for 10-0. Sam Royle scored the third and Arnold led 15-0 at the break.
Wade Deacon hit back and showed their potential in the backs with two very good long range tries and suddenly it was 15-10 and game on, but a Callan Barrow penalty and a further try by Royle after a mistake by their winger made it 23-10. The home side got a late try but Arnold played out the last few minutes without any problems to win by 23-15.
This will set up a Lancashire Cup semi-final match against either St Edward's College, Liverpool, or St Mary's Hall, Stonyhurst.
Well done to all of the boys!
