Despite some pretty awful weather, the U13A produced a brilliant performance against our local rivals, KEQMS. Centre, Sam Royle, was in outstanding form as he scored an amazing five tries in his first match in the backs. It was a wonderful team performance as the forwards and backs combined well in an attempt to play some attractive rugby.
The U13A led 28-0 at the break with Sam Royle completing his hat-trick with some devastating running. Callan Barrow kicked every conversion, with one stunning kick from the touchline, and Tom Riley scored the other first half try as he displayed his pace with a superb sprint down the right touchline from 30 yards.
Two further Royle tries in the second half completed the scoring as the U13A won by 42-0. Rory Douglas and Jonah Lonberg had very effective games in the forwards, with Ben Pearson looking good in his new role at hooker. Bill Gavin had a strong match at no.8 and Matthew Barrett and Ellis Whorlton-Jones get better and better as the half backs. James Ellwood also had a strong match on the left wing.
In the Lancashire U16 Cup, Arnold progressed by 53-7 against a big and very physical side from Rainford HS. Arnold dominated in the forwards and backs as they crossed for nine tries. Tries from Alex Casey, Harrison Kenworthy, Louis Mottley (2), Joe Pennington, Oliver Hopkins (2) and Oliver Mills completed the scoring.
